Obituary of Laura M Connolly

Laura M. Connolly, age 88 of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Born in Windham, New York, she was the daughter of the late Elsie Judd. She had lived in Westbury, Long Island before moving to Whitehouse Station three years ago. Laura received her Bachelor’s Degree from Plattsburgh State University of New York, Plattsburgh, New York and her Master’s Degree in Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, New York, New York. She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Great Neck School District on Long Island before the birth of her children. During her time in Westbury, she was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Brookville, Long Island and was a member of several charitable and church organizations. Upon moving to New Jersey, Laura became a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Laura enjoyed reading, keeping up with current events, challenging herself with puzzles, and connecting with friends. She was a great lover of the arts and especially enjoyed attending plays. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, and at the vacation home in Hemlock Farms, Hawley, Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John in 2013, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Connolly of Clinton, New Jersey and Joan Connolly of Oakland, California. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Burial will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Calverton National Cemetery in Wading River, Long Island.
