Obituary of Derald L. Lindaman

Derald "Deik" Lindaman Born: March 26, 1934 – Hansell, Iowa Died: April 4, 2017– New York, New York “To share a burden is to have only half a burden but to share a joy is to have two joys.” On April 4, 2017, the wise man who shared these words and so much joy, yet never shied from a burden, left this world all the brighter for his time with us. Deik Lindaman - father, brother, son, grandfather, and friend – went to be with the Lord after a long fight with cancer, surrounded by his wife, Anne of Naples, FL and Westport Point, MA, his son, Brian of Las Vegas, NV, his daughter, Debra Scrudato and her husband, John of Lebanon Township, NJ, and his grandchildren - John, Gabriella, Michaela, and Danielle Scrudato. He is preceded in death by his son, Andrew and daughter, Cheryl. As the immortal bard wrote, “parting is such sweet sorrow.” We are heartbroken by his loss because of all the sweetness his life brought. We will never forget his remarkable life and its immeasurable impact on all of us. Born in a small town in Iowa, he attended the University of Iowa before being drafted into the Navy where he played basketball competitively. He married his wife, Anne Russell of Somerville, MA in 1958 and began a career in professional sales that took him throughout the world - from Flint, Michigan, to Boston, Massachusetts, to Athens, Greece. Wherever he went, he never ceased to delight with his plainspoken wit, his firm handshake, his good humor, or his brilliant smile. Most of all we will remember him for what he taught us. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, but do strive for greatness and don't be afraid to show them where you live. Don’t worry; be Happy. Whatever you do with your life, do it well. Treat all with respect and share your joy with everyone you meet, however great or small. Deik’s life on this earth will continue through all those he touched and taught. We don’t say goodbye today, but, instead, “until we meet again.” Until then, we’ll show them all we lived and learned with you. God bless you, Pops, and God speed. We love you. Viewing will be held from 5pm to 9pm on Friday April 7 2017 at Kearns Funeral Home in Whitehouse, NJ. A service will be held at Saint Ann's Church, Hampton, NJ on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 10am. The burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Clinton Township, NJ following the Mass.
