Obituary of John Neuwirth

John Neuwirth, age 67 of Whitehouse Station, NJ died peacefully at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerset on Monday, April 17, 2017 after an 11 year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late H.D. and Kay Neuwirth.

He was a very active child and participated in many sports in his younger years. He attended The Taft School in Watertown, CT graduating in 1968. When his father disapproved his goal of becoming a Formula One driver he enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH graduating with a BA in Philosophy and French in 1972. When he realized he couldn't spend the rest of his life contemplating Sartre on the bank of the famous river Seine he attended graduate school. After receiving his MBA in International Business from Thunderbird Global Management School in Glendale, AZ he finally settled back in NYC where he met his wife, Fyrossa on St. Patrick's Day, 1977. They escaped the city before their first child was born in 1988 moving to Bridgewater, NJ. Then deciding to move to Whitehouse Station in 1995, 2 years after their second child's birth.

John worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Newark, NJ for 25+ years where he was a National Account Executive. He prided himself with his phenomenal work ethic and business acumen. He was continually recognized in his position for sales and account management. In the last few years he stepped back from the front lines to mentor up and coming talent within the company.

John was a member of the Evangel Chapel in Bridgewater, NJ. He was a strong, highly intelligent, and valiant man who had a high standard of personal excellence. He loved spending time with his family, making people laugh, riding his 2 motorcycles, playing sports (football, rugby, baseball, swimming and martial arts), watching Bruce Lee movies, playing his drums, and mentoring younger people including coaching little league baseball for many years. He was a diehard NY Yankees and Giants fan.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Fyrossa, his daughter Kristina, and his son John Jr. As well as his sister Cathy and his brother-in-law Joe Fragola and their children Rachel and John who all reside in California.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 3:30 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:30 PM.
