Obituary of James L. Walker
James L. Walker, age 78 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, passed peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Hunterdon Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James and Mary Walker Sr.
Jim lived in Middlesex for 7 ½ years before moving to Readington Twp., 43 years ago.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University and his Master’s Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, both in Chemical Engineering. He worked for National Starch & Chemical Company in Manville, which later became Celanese, as a Senior Research Associate and during his tenure there developed many patents.
Jim was a member of the Middlesex Jaycees and was on the Board of Health Commission. He was always a high achieving yet humble man. He enjoyed classical music, playing the piano, golfing, bowling and always held season tickets to see the New Jersey Symphany Orchestra at the State Theatre in New Brunswick.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 51 years, Sharon, his daughter, Lisa Walker of Washington DC, his daughter, Kathryn Walker of Rutherford, his daughter, Elizabeth Walker and her fiancé, Christopher Amato of Morristown; his sister, Mrs. Mary Tompkins of Abington, PA, his brother, Mr. Joseph Walker of Hatboro, PA, and his sister, Mrs. Joanne O’Donnell of Easthampton, MA. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 8:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The burial will be private.
