Obituary of Paul L Anderson
Paul L. Anderson, age 87 of Bridgewater, NJ, and Beach Haven, NJ, died Sunday, May 21, 2017.
Born in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Leo and Irene Anderson. Coming from Yonkers, NY and then Hatboro, PA, he was a resident of Bridgewater since 1968.
Paul graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in business. A Captain in the Marine Corps, he served as Company Commander of Company D in the Second Battalion, 3rd Regiment, 3rd Division during the Korean War.
He was the Founder & President of Van-Con Inc., which is a school bus manufacturing company in Middlesex, NJ.
Paul was a member of the Rotary Club in Yonkers and Hatboro and a 50 year member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater. The proudest and most defining moments of his life consisted of his participation in the armed services, his 52 year marriage, the birth of his children and grandchildren, the founding of his company, his involvement in the Cursillo Movement and his ordination to the Deaconate in 1996 and his subsequent 17 years of active service to the church.
Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife, Merle in 2009 and his two brothers, Leo and Jack.
He is survived by his 5 sons, Paul Jr. and his wife, Penny of Meadowbrook, PA, Peter of Bethlehem, PA, James and his wife, Linda of Flemington, NJ, Matthew of North Arlington, NJ, Andrew of Hawaii; 2 daughters, Mary Pat Anderson of Fairfax, VA and Suzanne van Saase and her husband, Anton of Ascot, England. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Adam, Elliot, Zachary, Sean, Emily, Ian, Samantha, Brianna, Jeffery, Nicholas and Christopher Anderson and Oliver, Sophia, Alexander and Annabella van Saase.
A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, 500 US 22, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
Viewing will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 at the Church. All are welcome.
Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater.
