Obituary of Robert W Johnson

Robert W. Johnson of Binghamton, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3 at Rolling Hills Care Center in Lebanon, NJ with his family at his side.

Bob rests with his Heavenly Father and is reunited with his many friends and family who welcome him to his eternal reward. He was a lifelong resident of Binghamton and is preceded in death by his father William A. Johnson, sister, Catherine Johnson and mother, Mary Johnson.

He was a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy class of 1942. Bob served in WW II from 1943-1946 as a member of The Army Corp of Engineers. During this time, he served his country in both the European and Pacific Theaters of war and shared many stories of heroic action. He faced near death situations on more than one occasion and with the help of the Lord above lived to return home to his family. Upon his return he demonstrated the love and faithfulness to his immediate and extended family that so many remember him by. He cared and tended for his mother and sister as his father died at very early time in Bob's life. He sacrificed personal opportunities to provide for his family. Bob married the love of his life Lorraine, in June of 1957, this month marks their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

Bob was the consummate professional; he retired from Kellogg's Corporation after a 37 year sales career where he was consistently recognized for his performance and leadership. Upon his retirement he and Lorraine traveled often and were frequent visitors of their family out of state. A favorite spot for Bob was Las Vegas, he and Lorraine enjoyed many trips there and shared wonderful stories of time spent with good friends who accompanied them during their travels. Bob was an active and longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas parish. His faithful service to the parish and the Catholic Schools of Broome County are remembered by many. While he served and volunteered his time and talents to many organizations, he will most be remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He always had the interest of family first; his greatest enjoyment came from time spent with family, even up to his final days.
