Obituary of James E. Mumm

James E. Mumm, age 73 of Readington, NJ, died Wednesday,
August 30, 2017 at the Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, he is the son of the late Frederick and Mary (Howard) Mumm.  Jim was raised in Westfield, NJ prior to joining the military.

Jim proudly served in the United States Navy from 1962 until 1965.  He served on the USS Chilton APA 38 where he was a PO-3 and learned his trade as an Electrician.  After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Jim resided in Clark before moving to Readington 40 years ago.  He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 102 in Parsippany for 40 years before retiring in 2003.

Jim was a Classic Car enthusiast and spent a lot of his free time going to car shows and collecting cars.  His passion was restoring those cars while listening to his favorite Oldies music.

Jim was the beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Gindel) and the loving father of 4 children; Mary Terry and her husband Charles of Coopersburg, PA; Julia Mumm of Mount Arlington, NJ; Jackie Walton and her husband John of Ringoes, NJ and Paul Mumm and his wife Diana of Ocean Twp., NJ.  He is also survived by his 8 cherished grandchildren Bryan, Kevin, Veronica, Bradley, Megan, Aiden, Jade, and Owen and his dear sister Mary Lou Ward of Charlotte, NC.  He is predeceased by his brothers Frederick, Robert and John (Jackie).

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse, NJ on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 2pm-4pm.
