Obituary of William J. Dowd

William J. Dowd, Jr., age 80 of Clinton Twp., NJ, died Sunday, October 22, 2017at his home with his loving family around him.

Bill was born in West Orange, NJ and had lived in Livingston before moving to Clinton Twp. fifty years ago.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Bill graduated from St. Peter’s College and attended Georgetown University Law School.  Bill then went on to obtain his Funeral Directors License, graduating from the American Academy Mcalister Institute. He owned and operated the Dowd Memorial Home for several years. Bill also purchased the family owned Cemetery, Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, NJ over fifty years ago.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne (Hess) Dowd, his seven loving children, William J. Dowd, III and his wife, Cheryl of Union Twp; Megan Grish and her husband, Steve of Fort Meyers, FL; Elizabeth Dowd of Phillipsburg; Wayne Dowd and his wife, Brenda of Wind Gap, PA; Kelly Hadsall and her husband, Dave of Clinton Twp; Kenneth Dowd and his wife, Janice of Bloomsbury; and Chris Dowd and his wife, Heather of Greenwich Twp. He is also survived by his 12 wonderful grandchildren and 5 precious great grandchildren.
 
 Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.
