Obituary of Genevieve E. Cibelli

Genevieve E. (Portella) Cibelli, age 88 of Bridgewater, NJ., died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her sons home in Naples, FL.

Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Gilda Portella Sr.  Genevieve lived in Bridgewater for 45 years and spent the winter months in Naples.

She was a graduate of Berkley school and in 1967 she started working at the Raritan Valley Hospital in Greenbrook, NJ as secretary to the Chairman of the Department of Radiology. She went onto work for Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, first as the secretary to the Director of Medical Education, Dr. Judith K. Amorosa and then became the secretary to the Chairman of the Department of Radiology, Dr. John L. Nosher.  Genevieve retired on November 30, 1995 as the Senior Management Assistant of the Department of Radiology. 

She was a member and past President of the Italian American Women’s Association and a member of the traveling Seniors both in North Plainfield.  She was a loyal fan to both the Yankees and the Giants but it was the love of her family that best defined her.

Genevieve was predeceased by her beloved husband, Guy Cibelli who died in 1983.

She is survived by her loving children, Christopher Cibelli and his wife, Lauren; Jennifer Olivero; and Michael Cibelli and his wife, Kristin all of Naples, FL.  She is also survived by her dear brother, Louis Portella Jr. and his wife, Connie of Jackson, NJ and four precious grandchildren, Guy and Ty Olivero and Rylie and Dylan Cibelli and her 2 step-grandchildren, Russell and Wendi Kras.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Raritan.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.

Entombment will be in Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge.
