Obituary of Constantinos G Contos
Constantinos G. Contos, age 85 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.
Born in Pireaus, Greece, he was the son of the late George and Xanthippi Contos.
Constantinos lived in Greece and then New York before moving to Readington Township 41 years ago.
In the early 1950’s he was a Ship’s Captain in the Greek Navy and following that, joined the Greek Merchant Marines. In 1968 he moved to America and started a ship repair business in Brooklyn, NY. The business became World Wide Metric Incorporated when it was moved to NJ in 1986.
Constantinos was a member of St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church in Flemington. He enjoyed life and loved to travel. He traveled all throughout the United States and every year he was able to return to Greece to visit with family and friends. Constantinos was a dedicated family man and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Gary Louise; his three children, sons, George and his wife, Jessica of Clinton, Theo and his wife, Lada of Flemington, his daughter, Anthee Contos of FL, and by his two sisters, Alexandra Perkizas of Montreal, Canada and Eleni Lykoudis of Athens, Greece. He is also survived by 4 cherished grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 10:00 to 1:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church, 85 Voorhees Corner Road, Flemington, NJ 08822.
Burial will be in Readington Reformed Church Cemetery in Readington.
