Obituary of Leonard James Acken

Leonard James Acken, age 73 of Whitehouse, NJ, died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Rehab at River’s Edge in Raritan, NJ.

Born in Morristown, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles and Marion Acken. Lenny lived in Stirling before moving to Whitehouse in 1975.

Lenny was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War era. He belonged to the American Legion Post 284. He worked over 20 years for AT&T and after retiring he began working at Millington Nurseries.

Lenny was predeceased by his brother, Charles Acken.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Maria, his loving children, Lisa Falcone and her husband, Joe of Jackson, NJ; Leonard Acken of Forked River; Stefanie Byrne and her husband, Paul of Alexandria, VA; and Jessica Lamb and her husband, Tom of Bethlehem, PA. He is also survived by his brother, Tommy of Cape Coral and his precious grandchildren, Corey, Taylor, Talia, Shane, Blake, and Adaline.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
