Obituary of Geraldine F Martin

Born in Montreal, Canada she was the daughter of late Bernard and Margaret Fitzgerald. She was raised in Summit and lived in Scotch Plains since 1950, before moving to Whitehouse Station 19 years ago. She was a telephone operator with NJ Bell Telephone and with Dupont Chemical before retiring in 1950 to raise her family. She later returned to work as a switchboard operator. She was a parishioner of St. Bartholomew's Church in Scotch Plains and then Our Lady of Lourdes in Whitehouse Station. Geraldine was predeceased by her beloved husband Charlie in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her 8 siblings; Olive, Margaret, Jack, Lil, Eileen, Bernard, Agnes, and Patrick. Survivors include her son, Gerald Hudson-Martin, and daughters Eileen Shendock and Sheila Martin Gear. Geraldine was the cherished grandmother of Steve, Matthew, Joseph, Elizabeth, Lauren, and Tyler, great-grandmother of Steven and Chandler, and aunt to 38 nephews and nieces. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church 390 Rt. 523, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889. Friends and relatives may visit with the family at Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse, NJ on Monday Sept. 3, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
