Obituary of Frances Schifano

Frances Schifano, age 89 of Tewksbury, NJ, died Friday, July 27, 2018 with her loving family at her side at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Filippo and Francesca Greco.

She lived in Colonia before moving to Tewksbury in 1966.

Frances was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was past president of the Tewksbury Seniors Group.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.  The words that describe Frances best would be loving and patient and sweet.  She made her family feel as if they always came first.  She was constantly there for people, whether it was to lend a hand, listen or give advice which she would do without judgment.  Cooking for her family was something she loved to do.  Meals were an important part of all the planned activities the family did together.  While the food was amazing and enjoyed by all it was the time spent together that will be treasured the most. Frances also shared her love of music, dance and theater with her children and grandchildren. It seems Frances and her late husband, Sal had a way of doing different activities that brought the whole family together and left them with an amazing bond that can never be broken.

Frances was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Salvatore who died in 2008.

Frances is survived by her loving sons, Ronald of Bedminster and Robert of Tewksbury, her loving daughter, Kathie Phoenix and her husband, John of Glen Gardner.  She is also survived by her dear sister, Madeline Stowasky and her 5 adored grandchildren, Jason Schifano and his wife, Karen, Keith Schifano and his wife, Nova, Brenda Schifano, Matthew Phoenix and his wife, Sarah and Amy Phoenix-Wannamaker and her husband, Robert Wanamaker, Jr. and her four precious great grandchildren, Lillian, Benjamin, Elizabeth Schifano, and Julius Phoenix.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
