Obituary of John R. Castine

John R. Castine, age 82 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at his home.

Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Anna Castine.  John lived in Jersey City before moving to Whitehouse Station 45 years ago.

He was proud of his service to the United States Navy during the Korean War.  He worked for MetLife and retired as the Supervisor of Group Systems and Records.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Knights of Columbus and the Prayer Group.  John was kind, caring and fun to be with and always had a little joke to share.  He was a courageous man with a strong faith and trust in God.  He enjoyed painting and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.   

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carole who died in 2013.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Mary Beth Castine (Openshaw) of Rutherford, NJ, his dear sister, Mary Anne Bond of Boca Raton, FL, and his precious grandchildren, Jessica and Caragh Openshaw.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station.
