Obituary of Leigh Candelent
Leigh Ford Candelent of Tavares, FL and formerly of Cheshire, CT passed away on November 24, 2018 at age 78.
Leigh was born in North Canaan, CT to Barbara Osborne and Kenneth Ford. She was a cosmetologist and later a dean of several cosmetology schools. Upon her retirement in 1997, Leigh and her husband John moved to Tavares. She was active in the Imperial Terrace West homeowners association for many years as Secretary and later as Treasurer. Leigh loved reading and enjoyed antiquing, gardening and sharing the company of her many friends. She was well known for her creativity and being generous of her time and heart.
Leigh was predeceased by her beloved husband of 29 years, John Candelent, an army veteran and print industry tradesman as well as her siblings Craig Ford of Edmonds, WA and Cheryl Fritch of Key Largo, FL. She is survived by her son Peter Spicer, his wife Nancy and their children Nathan and Gracelyn of Whitehouse Station, NJ as well as her sister Donna Carlson of Bantam, CT and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 30th from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ. A private family service will immediately follow.
Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the American Lung Association. The family plans a separate memorial service to take place in Tavares in early 2019 followed by a private burial at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
