I can’t say I knew Wilbur well; I have some early memories of him from my childhood in Brooklyn on 3rd Street. His dad and my paternal grandmother (Maria Carlo) we’re brother and sister. I do have fond memories of going to the house on 1st Street and seeing him and his mom Amelia, as well as his sisters. I am sorry for your loss.

I didn’t know walking into an apartment on Orange St in 1977 would change my life. I met Will the summer before I graduated from college, my first real job as an architect! Will was more than a boss, he was a teacher, an uncle, a big brother and always a friend.
Many nights Will would invite me to join him and Chris for dinner, he always said, I can’t pay you more, but join us. What a wonderful cook he was, I loved the company and the food was always wonderful! He taught me the difference between southern and northern Italian cooking, and of course I know northern is much better, just as Will taught me.
I learned much more than architecture, music of all types from Gregorian Chants to The Rolling Stones, how to draft plans with a dog on your lap, stories of the Village in the sixties and so much more!
One of my favorites was how to land a sea plane, we would take our lunch down to the promenade and as a seaplane landed, Will would animate step by step what the pilot was doing, funny and educational!
Will, thank you for being part of my life.
Chris, you should know, our last garage sale had a huge orthopedic department!

While I have so many memories of a truly great uncle and mentor one memory has stuck with me. It was April of 1968 when Uncle Will took me into the city to see 2001 A Space Odyssey. No clue why but I have always treasured that outing. Christine, take solace in knowing Will will live on in our hearts forever. Simply put he was a great guy.

Dear Will and Chris,
Will, you hid your age well! I never knew you were in your 80’s, you were always kind, full of fun facts and you loved your wife. You are and will always be a stand up Genius Gentleman. This week I am going to watch Moon Struck! Okay, maybe after the Holidays.
Chris, I am so sorry, if you need anything or want to go for a walk, or anything, please call.
