Obituary of Violet Golden Robinson

Violet Golden (Goldie) Crowley Robinson (nee) Horvath, age 98, formally from Whitehouse Station, NJ of Monrovia, MD, died Monday, December 17, 2018 at home.

Born on August 22, 1920 in Carteret, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Andrew and the late Veronica Mary (Haydu) Horvath II.

Goldie graduated from Flemington High School and Drake Business School.  At age 19 her first job was managing the Franklin Store, later was promoted to District Manager.  When World War II broke out she worked for Belle Meade as an Assistant Supervisor of the Document Center for the duration of the war.  In 1953 she went to work for Ortho Pharmaceutical as a packaging operator.  While working at this job she went back to Business School for a degree in Secretarial Administration and became the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Manufacturing for Ortho Pharmaceuticals.  Later being promoted to Medical Claims Administrator where she worked for the remainder of her career.  After 30 years she retired in 1982 to care for her elderly parents until their death.

Goldie enjoyed bowling and loved to dance. She was a member of the Flemington Baptist Church and Flemington Grange.

Goldie was predeceased by her first husband, John J. Crowley and her second husband, of 47 years, Phillip O. Robinson and her brothers, John Horvath & Stephen Horvath, and several aunts and uncles

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne & Barbara Crowley, 2 grandchildren, Wayne A. and wife, Nikki Crowley of NC, and Sandra and husband, Anthony Mattia of Maryland 4 great grandchildren; Violet, Owen, Scarlet and Piper Mattia of Maryland and several nieces and nephews and cousins

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Carroll Hospice Organization. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the New Germantown Cemetery in Oldwick, NJ.
