Mrs Monaghan was the reason at the beginning we stayed at St E’s after preschool. She lived around the corner from us do we saw her a lot. We had a St E’s get together at our home that she would attend each year. Always so much fun. We lived Shan out of the blue she would pull into our driveway in her fancy mustang and we all would just talk. She always find us about her kids and she always said Jimmy reminded her of her Jimmy. My kids always loved her singing and dancing and we loved her perky personality and her love for NYC. She treated all of us like family and we will never forget her

Mrs. Monaghan was my Kindergarten teacher at St. Elizabeth in 1991/92. So many memories have stuck with me throughout the years, the footed bathtub in her classroom, her singing Chiquita Bananna to our class, and her warm heart just to name a few. She is one who inspired me to become a teacher and take care of my students as if they are my own children. One morning on the way to school my mother got in a car accident. Mrs. Monaghan saw it and didn’t hesitate to pull over and help us out by driving us to school in her bright red car! It was pretty cool getting a ride with a teacher. As I grew up I’d run into her on occasion and she always remembered who I was. She was thrilled I became a teacher. I’m so sorry for your loss. Please know that she touched many lives.

I remember as a young girl, visiting my mother, Kathleen Larkin's Aunt Bea Leahy in Queens, NY. Therese was a bubbly young woman and was always headed out on a date or adventure in wonderful clothes. (at least to my memory). I remember Christmas Cards to my family from King of Prussia, Pa and then I met her as the pre school teacher in Bernardsville. We had several lunch get togethers over the last 30 something years, including a Larkin family get together in Florham Park, NJ. She was a special person and sincere condolences to her family.

My most sincere sympathies to Therese and the family. Therese was such an inspiration to me. Always made me laugh with her adventures, her mustangs, love for baseball, her love for her family. She was an amazing woman who loved life. I was indeed an honor and privilidge to do her hair the past few years of her life. I enjoyed doing new hairstyles on her and making her look “HOT”... sometimes “Smokin hot”!! We always had great laughs together. Although Therese has gone home her memory will always remain alive in our hearts and minds. I truly will miss her. Love to all of you, Tommy Yeager (Hair Designs)

Mrs. Monaghan was a wonderful Kindergarten teacher for three of my children. She had so much love for her students every year!!! It seemed that she derived her energy from interacting with them. She was the perfect "first teacher" for my children who had never set foot in a classroom before. Her warmth and energy and enthusiasm for life were precious gifts to all who had the privilege of being in her company. Rest in peace, Mrs. Monaghan. May the angels escort you to Paradise.

Mrs Monaghan was more than just the best kindergarten teacher to ever walk the planet. I can vividly remember my love for reading starting in her unconventional “bathtub reading nook”. She always welcomed her students with a warm and inviting smile which signified the promising adventures which awaited you upon entering her magical classroom.
Perhaps my fondest memories are the countless trips she spent with her best friend - my grandma. Nobody could put a smile on my grandmas face like Mrs Monaghan could. Even when the symptoms of Alzheimer’s began to overtake my grandma and her spirits began to drop, Mrs Monaghan knew exactly what to say to get my grandma laughing like a teenager. I spend a lot of time thinking about my grandma and how special she was and it’s difficult to think of my Grandma without thinking of Mrs Monaghan - my other grandmother. She is truly a special person who will be missed.

Condolences from the Waldrons- she impacted many in my family. Amazing force for good! I posted the obit on the “you know you’re from Bernardsville” page on FB and there are many wonderful comments there, too. Many folks are sharing the link. She touched so many people in our formative years! Much Love.

So very sad to read this. Mrs. Monaghan was truly one in a million. As a student in her second class she never failed to make you smile or have fun in every single thing she did. Then again, St. Elizabeth’s in general brings back great memories. There is no doubt she is in heaven looking down on all of us. May she Rest In Peace. My deepest sympathies to the entire Monaghan family.
