Obituary of Mike Resetar

Michael Resetar, age 86 of Basking Ridge, NJ, died Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ. Born in Taylor, PA, he was the son of the late John and Julia Resetar. Mike grew up and lived in Taylor before moving to Basking Ridge 65 years ago. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and served on the USS Hancock which endured heavy enemy fighting. He received several service awards for his bravery. Mike worked at the Lyons VA Hospital for 35 years. He was a communicant of St. James Church in Basking Ridge. Many thought of him as the ambassador of the church because he dedicated so much of his time and talent. He was a member of the VFW Bernardsville Memorial Post 7858, a volunteer for the Basking Ridge Volunteer First Aid Squad and Fire Company. He loved bowling and was a member of the 700 Club. Mike will be best remembered as a hard working generous man who was loved by all who knew him. Mike was predeceased by his wife, Maryann DeCoster Resetar who died in 2002. He is survived by his son, Martin Resetar of Brooklyn, NY; his daughters, Julianna Lawson of Pittstown, Meghann Willean of Basking Ridge and Molly Tracy of Hilton Head, SC. He is also survived by his 3 sisters, Margaret Santioni, Anne Nehme and Elizabeth Hydock all of Taylor, PA; and his 6 grandchildren, Max, Devlin, Bayley, Josie, Maggie and Jack. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. James Church in Basking Ridge. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. In lieu of flowers donations to St. James Church or the Basking Ridge Fire Company would be appreciated.
