Dear Betty, Shannon and Katilyn,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your extended family at this very sad and difficult time. It's hard to put into words my thoughts and feelings. Joe was truly an inspiration to me. His positive attitude and commitment to his church and other organizations never ceased, even as his challenges got more difficult. I wish more people could be like him. The world would certainly be a much better place. We had a nice visit during the Kentucky Derby Party this past spring and I am very grateful for that. I pray that you find the courage and hope to face the next few months and that in time these difficult days and weeks will be replaced with memories of much happier times.
God Bless you and Godspeed to Joe.
Love, Carol

Joe and I worked together at AT&T and, at one point, we taught a class together. Joe was always the consummate professional and gentleman and a real pleasure to work with. He was truly an inspiration to me in how he always remained in high spirits and was dedicated to Betty and his girls and to his work despite his tremendous suffering. I will also miss seeing him at the 4H Fair this summer- I always looked forward to seeing him there! I will remember him in my prayers and will also pray for Betty, Shannon, Kaitlyn and the rest of his family that God watches over you and heals your sorrow.

My husband and I attended BRHS-West with Joe. I also first knew him as a grade school student. Joe stood out as a kind, personable guy who always had a nice word for everyone. His keen intelligence was so much a part of him and something he never had to bring attention to in his interactions with others. He simply was kind, quiet and brilliant.
Our thoughts go out to his wife, daughters and family.

Joe was an inspiration to me and it was a pleasure knowing him. Although he was suffering through very severe Multiple Schlerosis, he always had a bright positive outlook. when we last met in May, we were hoping he could come to Colorado to ski with us this coming winter, but God had other plans for him.
Godspeed Joe!

I remember how when Joe had his first bout with MS he called Peggy and I to the hospital and his first question was: "How long do I have to live?" The answer was, sadly, not long enough. On that day our infant son, Ryan, layed on Joe's chest, cooing and stroking his beard and Joe's fear seemed to melt away. Now Ryan is 20 and in many ways like Joe: strong of heart, full of life, ever smiling and everyone's best friend. I accept that he is physically gone but I know his spirit remains in all of us who knew him. Betty, Shannon and Kaitlyn, we are thinking of you across the miles.

I (Rich) first met Joe when our mutual professor introduced us at Rutgers U. in 1973. I was a first year grad student in Computer Science and Joe was a superstar undergraduate senior. We had a few great interactions and then met each other again a few years later at the ski club. I'll always remember Joe's excitement about everything, his goodness & kindness, and his positive attitude no matter what happened. We will truly miss him. You can see it all in his sparkling eyes in the picture on this web site. He was a pleasure to be around and a shining example of how a life should be lived. All our love goes to Betty and the girls who he loved so much.

So often when someone dies, you hear "he was a good man." It's almost automatic, whether he was or not. But with Joe, he really was a good man, a good husband , a good father, a good friend. He will be missed by his family and many friends. When they think of him, they shouldn’t think of how he died, but how he lived. Despite having MS, he tried to live as normal a life as possible. We are all better for having known him. He will always be an inspiration in courage.

Joe was my first manager in New Jersey in the VM group. He was an excellent manager, always so thoughtful and caring about the people that worked for him and the district in general. He even took the time to help me with my first carpentry project - an adjustable height table. Joe and his family are in my prayers.

Betty,
Joe fought a long battle and he always had a good outlook on life. He is an example that each of us should follow in our life. He has been in my prayers for a very long time and now he will be praying for each of us as he looks down from Heaven. You and the girls will be in my prayers, that God will give you the strength to live without your precious Joe at your side - he will always be in your heart. Love, Debbie Weber

Shannon and Kaitlyn,
I am so sorry that your father has passed on. He was a remarkably strong and determined man. An incredible role model for everyone he met. He touched so many people with his positive outlook. Remember that your father is still with you now and will be throughout your life. Your father left a beautiful legacy in the good and caring people you are. In your respective individual accomplishments- you have already reflected his strenghts and caring. I know you will find the strength to live through the next few difficult days.

Betty- Wanted you to know that I have been thinking of you since I heard of Joe's sudden attack. And thinking what a courageous and loving couple! You two accomplished so much with all the adversity life gave you. You are both an inspiration- Joe for his courage and determination not to give up on living fully and you for your devotion to him and your family. It just isn't fair when our loved ones leave so young and so suddenly. I wish I could be there to offer any support and help. I know your faith will provide the strength you will need in the upcoming days. Love to you and the girls, Karen Arcuri
