Obituary of Joseph J. Zimmitti Jr.

Joseph J. Zimmitti, Jr., age 54 of Branchburg, NJ, died Friday, July 28, 2006 at the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. Joe was born in Somerville, on April 11, 1952 son of Joseph J. and Elsie (Bassak) Zimmitti Sr. who live in Bridgewater, NJ. He lived in Somerset before moving to Branchburg 20 years ago. Joe was a Computer Engineer with AT&T for 27 years, before retiring in 2003. He was a very active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Joe was a Fourth Degree Knight and Past Grand Knight of Our Lady of Lourdes Knights of Columbus Council 6930 and served on the churchs Parish Pastoral Council. Joe was the head of the Multiple Sclerosis Support Group also at the church and was the Multiple Sclerosis Central Jersey contact person. He was a member of the Branchburg Communications Committee, the Somerset County Democratic Club and for 36 years was a Poll Worker for the Somerset County Polling District. Besides his parents, Joe is survived by his beautiful wife, Betty (Donohue) Zimmitti his loving daughters, Shannon and Kaitlyn Zimmitti who live at home; his 2 brothers, Erik of Milford, CT; and Jim of Kendal Park, NJ; and his 3 sisters, Pam Gendlek of East Brunswick, Carla Larson of Bridgewater and Nanciann Kruse of Minneapolis, MN. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at 9:30 A.M. at Our lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations to Elizabeth Zimmitti, to be used for a college fund for Shannon and Kaitlyn or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid-Jersey Chapter, 246 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ 07755.
