My sincere condolences on the passing of Mr Dooley. I was out of town and very sad to be unable to attend his funeral. My Dooley was the reason why I took up trumpet. I wound up playing professionally in Atlantic City, and have passed on my love for music to my kids. He was an inspirational teacher, both in music and in life. Thank you for blessing me.
Fondest Regards,
Steve

Barbara:
I was so sorry to learn of your loss. You and Dooley were married for a very long time and you both seem to have had a great family.
It has been a long time since we worked at HMC in medical records. If you recall I married Bob Stevely (a pipefitter who I met at HMC). Bob passed away on July 10, 2006....our losses are simply too much to handle. We are both so very blessed to have our families.

Barbara and family- I was saddened to hear of Mr. Dooley's passing. He taught me to play drums while I was at Reading Fleming Middle School back in the mid 70's. He even came to my house and gave me private lessons. He was really a nice man and instilled his love for music in all of his students. He was a great influence in my life and he will surely be missed.

To Barbara and children...Jack was a very influential person in the lives of my four children...Lynne, Bob,Jr., Susan and Bill. He propelled all of them in their musical endeavors at Flem-Rar in the late 70's and early 80's. It was Bob Jr.'s dream to send Jack a copy of his first published recording. He plays (guitar now although drums was his passion in elem. and middle school)in a small combo. They are currently recording their first disc. Our sincere and deepest sympathy to you. He was a very influential and special man to our family.
Most sincerely,
Sally Ashmen

As a flutist in Mr. Dooley's fifth grade band, I remember being asked to sing with the chorus for a part where the band didn't play. Nervous, I told Mr. Dooley that I didn't think I was talented enough or knew how to sing and he winked at me and told me there was no secret, and that everything I would ever do, not just in music, was all in the confidence. I have carried those words with me for over ten years now.
In life like in music, he taught us not just about the rhythm, but about the beat. His spirit marches on forever.

Our sincerest condolances goes out to the Dooley family. Jack was one in a million not only as a devoted husband and father, but also as a good friend. I am sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Dooley. I was blessed to have Mr. Dooley as my grade school music teacher for the DKReading band. He had a way about him I will never forget. I was not fond of the clarinet but by the end of my time in Mr. Dooleys class I actually began to like it. He always had a special touch with everyone. It is with fond memories that I will always remember my great teacher and friend "Mr. Dooley" I thank the family for the honor or knowing him.

Jack, You were an inspiration to many Pipers younger than you. You started playing later in life put took to the pipes like a duck to water. I will miss our sing-a-longs at the Nally's after the Somerville St. Pat's Parade. You must be pretty upset to be taken away days before your favorite holiday and the parades you loved to march. Don't worry Jack, They got St. Pats parades in heaven ole' Boy. Hold a place for me, I'll see you down the line O March, and together Jack, By the right...Ready quick...Harch!

When I received the sad news of Jack’s passing the tears streamed down my face and yet a smile came with the tears as I remembered Jack’s talent for making people smile, his gift with students and his kindness to all who knew him. He performed the impossible with my Jennifer – he not only got her to sing but he was the only person ever to have the pleasure of calling her “Jenny”. She has never forgotten how “Mr. Dooley” could get her to smile even when she was terrified to sing in front of people. He was a wonderful friend to our family and he will not be forgotten.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you now. Barb, if there is anything we can do please don’t hesitate to call. Jack was truly a special person in our lives. I thank you for sharing him with us. We will think of him often as he has left his legacy with every child he taught or helped including mine. Our prayers, thoughts, and love are with you.

Dear Barbara, John and Jenny,
I'm tearing up for you all as I write this. I can't fathom how losing Jack/dad hurts you all. I have SUCH fond memories of him and you guys. It's not often that people who are kind and loving enter into our lives and all you have displayed that in abundance. I really wish I could be there and I know my Mom and Dad who are visiting us in Chicago have expressed the same multiple times. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope to visit when I get out to NJ again. Don't hesitate to ask our family for help.
Much affection and sorrow,

I will always remember Jack for teaching my two daughters the Unicorn song before marching in the St. Patrick's day parade down 5th Ave in NYC. I will also remember his devotion to my father by playing the bagpipes diligently before and after his funeral and for being a comforting presence at the cemetary by playing taps on the bugel. He will be missed by all on this St. Patrick's day and for many more to come.

I'm sorry to hear of Mr. Dooley's passing.
I had him as a band teacher at RFMS. Although I was talently challenged when it came to playing the clarinet and was personally responsible for some of his gray hair, Mr. Dooley always made me feel special. He is a teacher that I will never forget.
Rest in peace Mr. Dooley.

Dear Barbara & Family,
I am very sad to hear of Jack's passing. I had the honor and pleasure of having Jack as my band instructor during my years at the former Reading-Fleming Middle School. I learned a lot from him, and it wasn't always about music. He touched so many lives, and I'm certainly glad to be one of those. I enjoyed a lot of good times through music, and continue to do so today. In my family, I've sort of passed the torch to my boys as they are both heavily involved in many music activities both in and out of school. Thanks for sharing Jack with so many of us. Be well and God Bless.

Jack, aka "Woolman" to the brothers of DKE, was a modest man who adored his family, boasted of a mega-soft spot for his two beautiful grand-daughters, loved music, and had the patience to share his musical gift with others throughout his life through instruction as well as entertainment. We all looked forward to his bagpiping when gathered for a DKE event, which he accommodated with minimal coaxing. I will miss his wit, hearty laugh, and friendship.
