Sorry isn't even a word to be used for this, but I want to let you know your family is in our prayers. Ironically, my mother's death date is the same so I will remember Scott's forever. He was magic. I am sure it will live on in his children.
All my love.

It has been an honor (and one hell of alotta fun) bieng your brother and friend. The memories of the things we did together (deer hunting behind Guerins when you took your first buck with a bow), and the things we did against each other (pictures taped on the side of your old Jeep), will always make me smile and laugh.
My son Timothy, who pheasant hunted several time with us, will be with you soon. He has been my best friend and hunting buddy and like being with you, he took his first buck with a bow last week and was a happy as you were when you did the same. I know you will enjoy his companionship and have many stories to exchange but don't worry as I kept all of his magazines and tape. For those who read this and don't understand, don't worry, Scott does!!!
God Bless and know that you have left your mark and will never be forgotten.

I worked with Scott and Trevor at Polar Cub years ago and sometimes gave them rides home. Scott was one of the most pleasant, sweet, dedicated people I've had the pleasure to meet. His smile is forever etched in my memory and I am so deeply saddened that someone like he had to suffer like he did. I pray for your strength and hope that it helps you to know he impacted on so many people's lives.

I am an old friend of Betty Oldenburg. I only met Scott one time, briefly, at Betty's shop on Route 202. I was impressed with how he cared for and was concerned for his mother's welfare, and also of how proud Betty was of Scott. My heart breaks for the loss of this superior man.
The brief paragraph following has always bolstered me in times of grief. I hope it gives you solace.
"Death is nothing new at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away
into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it
was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly
together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we
are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way
which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air
of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that
we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be
ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an
effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever
meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken
continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be
out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an
interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well!"

I continually prayed for Scott and got updates from his sister and Stan from time to time. Although we were battling different types of cancers and had much different mountains to climb, you still feel connected on some level. I know he was well loved by so many people, I often heard his name mentioned and all who talked of him seemed to be touched in such a wonderful way. I know many hearts are broken and he will be missed dearly here. Much love to his wife and children. How blessed we all were to have him here for whatever time we had.

I remember Scott as a man who was always smiling. He was great with his sons and his wife. He always gave a helping hand with Toni and Luigi, and anyone else who asked for it. I remember the first time I actually talked to him a lot. It was the superbowl about 4 years ago. I remember Scott's baseball card bar. I still think its amazing how he did everything like that. He was a really strong person and a dedicated police officer. Readington police had a role model working beside them. Scott lead by example thus creating a legacy. Like Achilles, Scott will always be remembered for the warrior he was and for how much he loved his wife and children. Danny and Mikey, we are all here for you. I first met Scott when I was a freshman, while attending Hunterdon Central High school. I was friends with his brother Trevor who was in the same class as me. Even back then Scott was a guy that you could look up to, both literarily and figuratively. I got to know Scott better when I played football with him as I was a sophomore and he was a senior on the varsity team. Scott never treated anybody like they were beneath him rather with respect and as his equal. That says a lot about the man he grew up to be. To treat a sophomore as your equal in High School is unheard of, but then Scott never cared about what other people thought of him or peer pressures. Scott always took the time out for you no matter what was going on with his own life. He put people first and his own needs second. My brother Steve and Scott married into the same family, so there were a lot of family functions that I got enjoy with Scott over the years. I was part of the original Hunterdon County S.W.A.T. with Scott. Although I was not on the Team very long, I got a chance to be a part of something that Scott and the rest of the Team believed in very much, which was to make this world a better and safer place to live in. Being on the S.W.A.T., I got to know Scott on a different level than I did at family functions, and it was an honor for me to be able to serve with him. Even after I left the team to advance my career in law enforcement, Scott was always there to encourage and support my decisions with great enthusiasm. I got to live through his experiences with the team when he excitedly told me about the different type of training they were doing at the time, treating me like I was still apart of it. Scott to me is what every man should be, a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, friend, and a gentle, caring, thoughtful, human being. I did not get to see Scott all that much, but when I did, he mad me feel like the most important person on this earth. I will miss you Scott; you have had a great impact on my life and you are one of those who have helped my career as a Police Officer. Thank you for everything and I will see you again someday. May God bless you and your family.
