Obituary of James P. Halligan
James P. Halligan, age 68 of Readington Twp., NJ, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Luke and Delia Halligan
He had lived in Brooklyn and Staten Island before moving to Readington Twp. 34 years ago.
Jim was a manager for the Lab Corp. in Raritan for 43 years before retiring 7 years ago.
He was a life member of the Whitehouse and Three Bridges Fire Departments. He had served as the Chief of the Whitehouse Fire Department. He was a member of the Ducks Unlimited, Hunterdon Chapter and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman and horseman as well as a passionate Giants and NASCAR fan.
Jim was pre-deceased by his sister, Mary and his great grandson, Dominic Delliturri.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Ellen Halligan, his son, Ken and his wife Felicia Halligan of Cranbury, NJ; his daughter, Donna Whitehead and her husband, Ron of Kingwood Twp., NJ; his two brothers, Bob Halligan of Brooklyn, NY and Tim Halligan of Atlantic Highlands, NJ; two sisters, Pat Gryboski of Wayne, NJ and Lucille Sciarrone of Brooklyn, NY; and four grandchildren, Jessica Deats, Hunter Whitehead, Cassidy and Kaela Halligan.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse, NJ.
The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Christian Foundation For Children, 1 Elmwood Ave. Kansas City, KS 66103 or Hunterdon Cancer Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ.
