Obituary of Herbert Furstenburg

Herbert (Herbie) Furstenburg, age 81 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Friday, January 25, 2008 at his home. Born in Flemington, NJ, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary Furstenburg. He lived most of his life in Whitehouse Station. He was an Army Veteran of World War II where he specialized as a parachute rig and repairman. He was a machinist at the Navy Research Testing Station in Trenton, NJ for over 30 years. Upon his retirement, he purchased Havers LawnMower Hospital in 1967, which he ran until passing it on to his sons in 1984. Herbie had a true passion for auto racing. He had owned a modified stock car team for over 15 years that raced locally. He is survived by his loving companion of 21 years, Shirley Epright, his 2 sons, Bruce Furstenburg of Scotch Plains and Roger Furstenburg of Whitehouse Station; his daughter, Judy Pilecki of Stewartsville and 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 28, 2008 from 7-9 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jaunary 29th at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
