Obituary of Anna Hisko

Anna Hisko, age 60 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at home, surrounded by her loving husband and friends. Born in Dilligan, Germany, she was the daughter of Stefan and Catherine Skalij. Ann came to America when she was 18 months old. She was raised in Whitehouse Station. Ann attended Hunterdon Central High School where she played field hockey, basketball, and was a member of the marching band. She went on to earn her Bachelors Degree from Trenton State College. She then returned to Whitehouse Station, as a third grade teacher at Whitehouse School where she taught for 28 years before retiring in 1999. Her dedication to her profession positively affected the lives of many students. She will be remembered for her patience, understanding and soft-spoken manner. Throughout her life Ann was an avid sportswoman and enjoyed playing golf and bowling where she was the recipient of many awards, however what Ann loved most was taveling and spending time with her husband and friends. Ann also volunteered her time at the Somerset Medical Center and was a member of both the Readington Education Association and the New Jersey Education Association. She was predeceased by her father, Stefan Skalij, who died in 2003. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Wayne Hisko; her mother, Catherine and her two dogs, Heidi and Pugsley. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28 in Whitehouse, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Funeral Home.
