Mrs. Usher will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up in Edison, NJ, she was my Girl Scout leader for the Junior Scouts in the Stelton neighborhood. She was a terrific leader who always had interesting activities planned for the troop including terrific camping trips, visits to nursing homes, crafts, an international dance project, nature activities including setting up feeding stations for the birds in a wild section of Johnson Park. We had fun just being girls doing things outside the normal suburban activities. As an adult, I realized how much effort was needed to plan all the events and to keep all of us excited to come back to our meetings.
As years went on, I ran into her at Rutgers University were I was a student and where she worked. It was always so nice to see her and "catch up" no matter how briefly.
A number of years ago I saw Debbie while shopping and found that Debbie lived nearby and that her Mom had moved to South Carolina. It was so nice to see her and tell her how much I liked her Mom and find out how she was doing.
I am so sorry for all of you in her family. Think of you at this time.
