Obituary of Marion Temme

Marion Temme, age 90 of Raritan Twp, NJ, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Independence Manor in Flemington. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna McFarland. Marion lived in Brooklyn, NY, Denville, NJ and St. Petersburg, FL before moving to Independence Manor 4 years ago. While living Brooklyn, NY, Marion was employed from 1955 to 1970 by Schraffts Restaurant in the Wall Street District of NYC. When she moved to Denville, Marion became a communicant of St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Mountain Lakes and was Vice President of the Women's Club of Rock Ridge Lake in Denville. While living in St. Petersburg, Marion joined St. Jude's Cathedral where she taught Religious Education and volunteered at the Rectory. She was also a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. After moving closer to be with her family, Marion joined Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Marion enjoyed reading and crocheting as well as traveling. During some of her travels she was a participant in Elderhostel ventures and her journeys included real world experiences and provided lifelong learning opportunities. But it was Marion's love of her family and her faith that defined her and gave her the greatest joy. Marion was predeceased by her loving husband, Albert Temme, who died in 1978. She was also predeceased by her sister, Anne Schneider. She is survived by her two sons, Robert J. Temme and his wife Anne of Bluffton, SC; Thomas J. Temme and his wife, Sue of Randolph, NH; two daughters, Diane and her husband Lyn Straw of Stockton, and Mary Ellen and her husband, Warren Burke of Lebanon and her sister, Edith Maier and Edith's 5 children. She is also survived by her precious eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
