Obituary of Edward G. Insel

Edward G. Insel, age 79 of Annandale, NJ, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at home. Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Gustave and Edith (Ecker) Insel. Ed had lived in South Plainfield for 30 years before moving to Annandale 10 years ago. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a long-distance switchman for NJ Bell Telephone Company for 35 years, before retiring in 1989. Ed was an active member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in S. Plainfield and the Clinton Presbyterian Church in Clinton. He was also a dedicated volunteer with the Hunterdon Medical Center's "Partners in Healing". Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Insel, his 3 sons, Edward G. and his wife, Karen of Washington, NJ, James F. and his wife Laurie of Clinton, NJ, and Thomas A. and his wife, Kimberly, of Santee, CA. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren. A service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Clinton Presbyterian Church on Center Street in Clinton. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
