Obituary of Ruth Wood
Ruth Wood, age 86 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at home.
Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Dacey. Ruth lived in Lebanon before moving to Whitehouse Station in 1993.
Ruth was an engaged and faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the Interfaith Hospitality Network and a former member of the Parish Council. She was a recipient of the Regina Nostra Award presented by the Diocese of Metuchen. She also volunteered her time and talent to the Division of Senior Services, Hunterdon Medical Center, Hunterdon Care Center, Brightside Adult Day Care and Great Expectations. She served on the Board of the Medical Reserve Corps and worked at the Readington Twp. election polls. She was also a member of the Readington Seniors.
Ruth is survived by her son, Craig Wood and his wife, Nicki of Oxford, PA and her daughter, Joan Sarratt and her husband, Gene of Beavercreek, OR, her brother, Donald Dacey of Long Island and her sister, Joan Haight of Montville. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Jen Romero, Susan Sarratt and Ian Wood and her two great grandchildren, Olivia and Emma.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday or Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
