Our condolences to the whole family. I met Pupi at Instituto Edison. She was an English teacher admired and loved by all her students. My best friend was her sister Marilu Cuervo Verdecia. I have so many memories of our childhood and teenage years, some of which include Pupi. May she rest in peace and be reunited with all her loved ones who went to eternal life before her.

I met Pupi when I was just 16 years old (I am 56 now), as well as the entire Cuban "Crew". You know who you are. I am Irish, was a very pale young girl who was nervous to meet my boyfriend's parents and their friends. I was very intimated to be among such sophisticated, educated and physically beautiful people. The moment I was introduced, all of them took me in. They made me feel like I was always a part of their family. I adored them back. I recollect countless parties with them and ALWAYS looked forward to holidays with them. Their love for each other had a huge impact on me. I am sorry now that I never told Pupi or Pablo how much they meant to me. They helped to shape and mold me into the person I am today.
I was a young sponge and looked forward to listening to the Cuban dads talk about finances and stocks while the Cuban moms were in the "other" room gossiping! (I did enjoy that too!) I used to sit with the dads and just soak up all their knowledge! The biggest compliment I ever received from Pupi was when she told me one day many years ago, "I hope one day Paul will meet someone like you." That was the ultimate compliment to me because I truly knew then I was accepted by her.
There was an incident one time during a gathering. I was sitting amongst my Cubans and they kept repeating a word that sounded like my name. I went to Maria and Humberto's bathroom and was crying. I guess I was in there for a long time because Oscar came looking for me. He knocked on the bathroom door and wanted to know if I was ok. I said no. He asked what's the matter. I said, "They are talking about me and I'm right there!" He said, "No they aren't. What makes you think they are talking about you?" I said, "I'm not stupid, I recognize my own name!" He said, "What are you hearing?" I said, "Casi, Casi, Casi". Oscar started laughing and called me a dope and said that word means "almost!" The pronunciation of that word and how my Cubans pronounced my name was almost identical! It was then that I vowed to improve my Spanish!!! I did and they loved me even more because of my efforts. Pupi and Maria taught me all of the foul Spanish words and cracked up when I repeated them!!!!!
My memories are sooooo many and I adored Pupi! Remember, she was a Cuban immigrant who became very successful in the 80's working for a huge corporation. It was not uncommon for Cuban men to become successful after leaving Cuba, but at that time it was unusual for a Cuban women immigrant to share the same success. Pupi, I salute you. You will always have my love and gratitude and I will ALWAYS hold you dear and remember all the good times we shared. LOOOOVVVEEEE YOU. Please share with Mamacita and Papito and Pablo a big group hug from me!!!!

Pablo Jordan came to her very young life. . He became her whole world, love, dreams, hope always built by the Architect that he was.
At Our school Pupi became a great English teacher, loved by her students.

Ileana and Paul,
I always knew your Mom as "Pupi", my aunt who had a beautiful smile, was a devoted mother to her children and wife to her husband, and who was always very warm and welcoming to us when our family would come to visit.
She was a hard-working and successful person and it seemed to me, a perfectionist. But most of all, she was devoted to her family's happiness. She will be deeply missed by all.
Faith and I would really love to visit with all of you at the memorial this coming Friday to pay our respects, but as I am starting a new work assignment that week, we are prevented from being there.
May God give you comfort in these sad days but also great hope in the days ahead.
With much love,
Alex and Faith Jordan
