Obituary of Anita B Sawczuk

Anita B. Sawczuk , of Tewksbury Township NJ left this world Sunday, August 5, 2018 at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 86 years young.

Born in Chicago IL, she lived in various cities across the country before settling in Tewksbury Township, NJ where she lived for the past 45 years.

Anita was an active member of St. John Neumann Community. She dedicated herself to serving others through Right to Life, local soup kitchen, Friendship Center for New Beginnings, Meals on Wheels, Story Hour at the Oldwick Library and Tewksbury Historical Society, to name a few. Anita was an avid supporter of the arts, theater and music, especially opera, singing professionally in her early career. Also passionate about gardening, she earned her Master Gardener certificate and most days would be found in her garden.

Anita was a second mom to countless people and she will be sorely missed but her devotion to her family; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren is a legacy that will be long remembered. 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley in 2005 and her sister, Elizabeth Doyle in 2009.

She is survived by her five children, David and his wife, Joanne of Alexandria, VA, Lisa Sawczuk of Evanston, IL, Gail Sawczuk and her husband, Gary Dean of Tewksbury, Laura Sawczuk and her husband, Luke Ellis of Orinda, CA, and Kirk and his wife, Maria of Antioch, CA.  She is also survived by her two sisters, Sis Markowski of Chicago, IL and Mary Lou O’Brien of Carrollton, TX as well as 16 treasured grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A funeral liturgy will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 1:00 PM as St. John Neumann Church in Califon. Let’s celebrate her life by not wearing black.

Friends may visit with the family. Viewing will be Saturday, August 11 from 2:00 to 5:00PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.

Burial will be private.
